Our Goats
All of our goats are mixed breeds of dairy goats. In the past we have bred them and sold raw goat’s milk, but their jobs on the farm these days are clearing brush and going for walks.
Spring-fall the herd lives out on pasture 24 hours/day, eating as much as their hearts content. Goats thrive on a diversified diet of grass and shrubbery. They love to eat poison ivy, bittersweet, pricker bushes and pretty much every other plant that grows on our farm.
The goats have been a vital part of my farm revitalizing processes of bringing back old pastures that became overrun with invasive plants in the two decades after dairy cows left our farm in 1998.
Meet the herd…
Moe
Alpha goat. Loves people and is very social.
Gretchen
Very shy. Bottom of the goat hierarchy. Excellent mom.
Mookie
Oldest goat at 10 years old. Gentle giant.
Gina
Daughter of Gretchen. Takes after her mama.
Beauty
Throws tantrums when she doesn’t get her way.
Charming
(Pictured right) Rarely seen without his best bud, Orion, and sister, Ariel.
Orion
Not the brightest bulb, but we love him for it.
Ariel
Twin to Charming. Loves her brother and being the center of attention.
Eleanor
The newest addition to our herd and most doted-on goat of all. Eleanor (born December 2020) is house-trained, sleeps on my bed on cold nights, and loves to eat toilet paper.
